Three for the Show: I am not sure if old builds are eligible for the contest but here are a few I have built over the years: Evil Iron, a rescue from a friends older brother. My first shot at Alcad too. Here are a couple of older trikes: Here is one I built just for the contest:

That article was in the June 1995 issue of Scale Auto Joe, by a strange coincidence that issue also ran the second instalment of my (at the time) definitive review of all American bike kits. Man, time flies!

Whew! Mission completed! As soon as Rick issued the challenge, I knew this is what I wanted to do: The MPC Trike ProjectI've always loved the MPC trikes, loved the designs and the scale they were in. I had two sets of the originals, MIB, plus three sets of the reissues. Anyone who only knows of the trikes from the repops have seen those four, but there were actually SIX in the set, the Black Max and the Cobra Chopper didn't get reissued, I don't know why. Also, when they reissued the four, three of them were renamed; the "T" Trike became the Milk Trike, the Digger Trike became the Tiki Trike, and the Wedge Chopper became the Taco Trike. Wish they'd stuck with the original names, and reissued ALL six. Sometime last year I built the Black Max, and figured eventually I'd get around to building them all. That time has come. My Black Max is actually only the second one I've ever seen built, and I've never seen the Cobra Chopper built, and I've never seen the whole set at one time. Good reasons to build 'em. Here are the original six, with boxes. All are built boxstock, with one exception; and without decals, unlike the repops. The exception noted is that I hated the way the headers exit out of the body on the Black Max, destroying the smooth flow of the body; I rerouted them to come out just in front of the rear tires. Also note the difference in the boxart of the Black Max as opposed to what's ACTUALLY in the kit- look at the stacks! It was a hoot building them, and I hope you like them too. There's a lot of pics, but then, there ARE six kits- I tried to limit them to just a few each. The Black Max Paint is Dark Cherry Pearl w/ Wet Look Clear. The Digger Trike Paint is Nassau Blue Metallic w/ Wet Look Clear. The Wedge Chopper Paint is Grabber Orange w/ Wet Look Clear. The Mail Box Chopper Paint is Mystic Emerald w/ Wet Look Clear. The "T" Trike Paint is Purple-Liscious w/ Wet look Clear The Cobra Chopper Paint is Root Beer, Flame Red w/ Wet Look Clear All of them together for the first time!
