I started this one back in the middle of May, but took most of the summer off from building, too damn hot for me this year. Got back too it and finished it up.
This kit came out in just these two issues, has never been repopped. It's somewhat rare, but the reason I decided to build it is because, in all the years I've been building and the sites I'm on, I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE BUILT! So, I decided to build one!
There are a few options. Inside body/outside mounted gas tank (I put it inside), lanterns/no lanterns (the latter), and you can build it so the body flips open. However, the body is multi-piece, and I hated all the seams, really breaks up the natural body lines; so I glued it together as pretty much a one-piece, filled and sanded the seams, much better. Not much to the interior to see, anyway. Decals were old, but decal film and Solvaset took care of that. Glass was a little scratched sliding around inside the box for decades, so I dipped the glass in Future, came out great. I had to paint it twice, because somehow I got moisture trapped under the gloss coat, and also ruined a decal, so I sanded it down and started over. Paint is Boyd Purple Pearl, with the radiator shell in Lime Gold.
