Sorry to keep you all waiting so long, I know I promised to get it done by the end of 2009 but here it is anyway: my first build of the new decade: This is the second paintjob on the "wood." I started with a "rustic painted look" but decided to go for bare wood instead. The blue paint is from a can of Canadian Tire Lacquer I actually found on the street one day with Future on top. I had to buy the Future because I could not find any on the street. Believe me, I looked. I also dropped the front by raising the front cross member, it looked like a gasser with its nose in the air. I would recommend to do this before painting but I didn't realize how high it was until I got it together. It took a little longer to build because I left it unattended and my son snapped the bosses off the front axle and I had to repair it with paper clip dowels. I also lost the chimney somewhere and had to replace it with sprue.

It turned out great Dave. This is the paint you found on the street in the snow right? Seems like I remember a snow pic associated with a can of paint. ;D ;D
The wood turned out nice. I'm working on a version of this kit and I can't decide whether to try the dry brushing or not. Give me the low down on it please!

Nice job , well done Dave. I know what you mean about the front end being up to high.I too found out to late into the build to do any thing about it. I still think as I look at mine in the display case that I should try to fix it." Bert", I used some very thin down flat black paint brush over the browns that I used for the wood. It really gave the look of wood with the darker lines or wood grain showing up. I also have been using flat crafting paint or some call it earth tones. On my Chuck Wagon I use three different color browns blending them to get some kind of strips that you would see in really wood , know what I mean?

That's the same technique & paint I use for all my wood & it works great !!!
