I like my models like my women: dirty! It is an Aurora kit from the early 60's. After taking it partially apart I realized how much I love the green plastic and I should not paint it. As the real car guys say, "its only original once." This is after a good clean up with some Novus plastic polish. I painted the tires black with whitewalls because the yellow ones looked stupid. At first I was going to leave the mags green too but that also looked stupid. The only parts I am missing are the headers and four "bazooka" style pipes that emerge from the top of the trunk area. Perhaps I will make some one day. but not today. Above: a rare glimpse into the super-detailed interior of Old Ironsides. I was told it's an International Harvester. Neil Young would be proud.

That really takes me back!
I remember being massively unimpressed with that kit as a kid (which I only bought because I couldn't afford one of the Revell Roth rods). Not only was it a stupid scale (real kits were 1/24 or 1/25 of course!) but I didn't know about cleaning kits before painting so I couldn't get any paint to stick to it and it didn't have any chrome! If I'd been sensible I'd have put it away somewhere safe until now and retired on the proceeds of selling it!
Instead it ended up as a sort of fire engine/ safety truck thing for a dragstrip diorama I built. I know the diorama was 1/24 scale so it's anyone's guess what horrors I inflicted on it to get it looking more like a 1/24 scale car.
Dumb kids!
