Great job on a super rare kit ! Okay, I know zero about showrods, let alone show rod kits. So this was a kit? I know you have to have subjected it to some serious "upgrades"; it's just too nice. Like that wood, for example, it looks absolutely real, but in scale, too. Inquiring minds want to know... ;D

Bernard, that looks like real wood because it is real wood!
The kit came with sheets of partially cut ply wood that the builder pushed out - if you were lucky, more often than not the wood would splinter as it came out because the cuts weren't deep enough.
The star spangled material came with the kit as well and you cut it to size and glued it over the plastic frame.
I really didn't do much upgrading apart from the engine wiring and swapping out the kit wheels for more accurate five spoke items.
The real problem with this kit is that there were no mounting points for the engine and running gear to be fitted to the woodwork so it was all guesswork how it went together.
Back in the days before superglue and epoxy glue I don't know how anyone ever built one of these things!

I remember seeing an article in Model car Science about that kit. Not surprised it wasn't a big hit but yours turned out great. Was that one in a series?

Pretty sure there were two others in the series, one stage coach sort of thing (which had no means of steering if I remember correctly) and a trike.
The Wood Burner was the only one based on an actual car however.
