’65 Chevelle Drag Team

This is a MIB kit from my stash. I decided to try to build the boxart version from this other single car issue of the kit.

I built the trailer boxstock. I built the ’63 Impala tow car boxstock, except for changing the tires, and putting on moonies instead of the standard stock wheels. Paint is Testor’s Diamond Dust lacquer with Wet Look Clear.

I built the ’65 Chevelle boxstock, tried to get the paint decently close to the boxart. Paint is Testor’s Black and Diamond Dust, Wet Look Clear. I did change the chassis braces from red to silver. I have the original decals and they look OK, but I’ve been burned a couple of times lately and did NOT want any problems with this project, so I used replacement decals from Special Appearance.

This is one of my favorite kits from back when I was young and they first came out, just love them, and all the AWBs from AMT. Not a perfect job, but I think the whole thing came out OK.

Because I'm planning on building some more drag teams, I looked this one up, and found that it had been the victim of the Photobucket scandal of some years ago and the pics were gone; so I just went to my Fotki and replaced them. Years after I built this, they've reissued the single Chevelle kit.

More drag teams to come.

Cleeeeeeeean. Love this. That Black looks like it's still wet. I picked up the reissue recently. I hope it turns out this nice.
