I’m putting this under discussion because I haven’t got any in-progress pics yet. Besides, this thread looks a little neglected to me… Obviously, as someone who seems to be decidedly hung-up on building Old Skool hot rods the Hot Rod Rumble is right up my alley. But I thought it might be fun to find a common ground with the Show Rod thing that seems to characterize a lot of what goes on here at The Model Masters. Show rods are definitely not something I do, but I’m in total admiration of the cool builds that are shown here in this genre. And among the countless projects in my personal car modeling to-do list, for at least the last 3 years now, has been a 27 T Lo-Boy. The key influences for the image in my head are the Gary Heliker 26 T (which gained infamy in the movie Hot Rods To Hell), and the Ray Anderegg 25 T in later “Golden Chariot” version recently cloned by Von Franco and featured as a TRJ cover car. However, it won’t be quite like either, obviously because it’s a 27 T to start with, and because almost nothing else other than the stance will copy either car directly. But I will borrow from both, although I’m using a caddy mill with the cool factory air cleaner. The color in particular is fairly shamelessly borrowed from the Von Franco/Golden Chariot car. I’m using Testors Inca Gold with a pearl white interior and frame and LOTS OF CHROME. Because of the color and chrome and the exaggerated stance I think I’ll be moving at least part way towards that Show Rod thing. To kick things off, and because I need the completed mill to get dimensions for the car’s scratch built frame, I painted and mocked up the completed Revell Parts Pack Caddy. I tried to keep as much chrome as possible. It has a gold block and heads and the Modelhaus Caddy air cleaner is painted in what will be the body color. Here are some pics to set the tone. The Gary Heliker T: The Later Hot Rods To Hell Version: The Von Franco Golden Chariot clone as featured in The Rodder’s Journal: The first version of the Ray Anderegg 25 T which I would like to build at some point but which lacks the show-car vibe I’m after: And finally, the Caddy mill for the project:

Thanks to all who participated , some damned fine entries & thanks also, to the guys who tried to finish on time; but didn't . - It wasn't a big turn out; but like I always say ...... I'll take Quality, over quantity; Every Time

My head is still hung in shame that I chose to finish some steenkin' drag car rather than my hot rod!
Still, I did finish it (which is something that definitely wouldn't have happened without the Rumble) so that's a good thing.
And I agree completely with Rick about the quality, those were all very neat builds.
