Revell Henry J 1972 ISSUE - Finished !

Its been a long time since I posted anything , but heres something I'm working on right now. I built one of these as a kid, made a huge mess out of it ,but it was always one of my favoite models. I was lucky enough to find the same kit and wanted to build it as box stock -just like I wanted it to look like when I was 11 years old . Sorry for the big pics !

Ah yes, happy days indeed! When no model was complete without slapping on every (often way over sized!) sponsors decal that the manufacturer had kindly included. It took me a while to realise that no real car ever looked like that!

Also nice to see the J without those hideous Centrelines that Revell thought would "update" it.

But as a kid, all those decals is what made me buy this kit, so it worked sales wise. Im going to plaster it with decals since its going to be a "tribute" to the one I messed up as a kid- basically box art stock

I 100% agree on those Centerlines, They messed this whole series of kits with those god awful things. Thats the reason I never tried to build a clone with the many reissues of this kit !

I finally got this finished- the old decals fought me all the way and it took more than one shot of Solva-set to get them to sit flat. When I had nearly finished it, my finger popped out one of the quarter glasses so that took a bit of patience to glue back in through the open door without taking the car apart again. I pretty happy with the kit, it took me over 40 years, but I finally built this kit they way I wanted to back in '72 !

If there is a challenge, I hope it waits until I come acros another original in the Revell gasser series !

Do you mean a Revell 1/25 ONLY Challenge Joe ? - hmmm .... not a bad idea ...... I'll think we'll let the Chopper dust settle first though
