Bob Johnson's Tweedy Pie

Bob Johnson was the original builder in 1955 and sold it to Rod for $1150 or $1500 depending on who you ask in late 1962. Powered by a 283 Chevy in a highly modified Model A chassis, painted Union 76 Royal Triton Purple which I mixed to OEM paint forula (in his moms garage with a vacuum cleaner!) with Lilac interior, 1956 Ford steering wheel and Roth pin striping. This is build to be circa 1958.
Roth pursued Bob to buy the car after he stripped it. Roth added the quad lights, chrome front axle parts and a Bell steering wheel. As they say the rest is history.
Interesting side note, Bob signed a contract to have the car used in the 77 SUNSET STRIP T.V. show but backed out because he would not let anyone else drive it.

WOW! A nice car build and a History Lesson!
There is so much History involved with so many of these cars, where and who built the "original" starting point and who purchased it. Then it went on to Success! Then back to History again, hopefully to be found and resurrected.

I might be wrong (I often am) but wasn't there an even earlier version of the car that had flathead power?

Yellow painted Flathead, black windshield frame, no rear bumper and black chassis from about 1955.

I have over the years collected autobody supply paint books that were considered "Obsolete" by the paint stores. The base colors and tints are still available. The interior paint is called Mood Lilac Shimmer from wal-marts lacquer based nail polishes
