Finally done after 10 years, took some time to find the proper details I needed to build this wonderful kit the way my actual 318 c.i. car looked from 1981 until '82 when it was destroyed on the highway. Of course the original tires in the kit box had shrunk down a fair bit so tried to find a tall skinnier set of tires with the sharp sidewalls of the old-style $19 tires I had on it. Also included the Canadian Tire wedge cushion to see over the dash, blower/defogger on rear window shelf (inverted valve cover). Stuck lots of pollution control junk under the hood and rusted 'er up as the real car was. 1974 stripes as I had. License plates made from a website (no longer around as far as I know) and daughter tidied them up then we printed them about 10 years back, even has the license sticker on the rear. Changed it to single exhaust and added scratchbuilt trailer hitch, omitted the 4th hubcap which I'd lost early on. Chrome 'beauty rings' from Canadian tire, tried to get the correct depth on those and I think they're pretty close. Added cracks in the vinyl dash and scratchbuilt automatic shifter/console. Aftermarket C.T. car seat covers (one size fits all...NOT) just as I had with ties.

It was it's destiny, we were lucky we weren't hurt as it was rotted under all that body filler so it just smushed in. Got it for $400 and ended up with $1,200 payout so we bought a new Sony TV in the fall of '82 and took transit for a year.
Was a drunk driver with a '69 Chevelle, he lost a headlight.
The salvage place was desperate for my 'as new' bucket seats, oddly enough they were the only thing in wonderful shape on this car. Somewhere they likely live on in another Duster, 'cuda or Challenger out there.
To go to my in-laws 60 miles away, this procedure was done EACH away:
Full tank of gas Full crankcase of oil Full rad of fluid
This model would not have turned out like this without Rick's great advice all along the way!

Wow , my Petty blue 72 Duster was rear ended and totaled in 79 by a drunk driver too ! hit on the right rear , it pushed the quarter panel mounted jack out the side of the car by the right rear window and bent the leaf spring into a "U" . Yours looks really cool -I may have to borrow your idea and find a 72 Duster kit !

Thanks! The '72 kits are easier to find than the '73s. Have fun doing one, if the '73s weren't so rare I'd do a wrecked version too.
