This is a cursed build. Paint and clear kept screwing up, took me 4 tries to get it to where it's just acceptable, really not happy with it. Clear screwed me twice, so this final product, I didn't clear at all, and didn't polish the paint, I was afraid it would just be one more screw up. So really, this isn't even "finished" like I normally would. All sorts of things went wrong, too. Then, when I was close to done, got super glue on the paint, did my best to get it off. Ready to take pics? Ha! Knocked the emblem off of the bull nose ornament, God knows where that went. Then, I had to stop taking pics last night when I closed the rumble seat, I accidentally pushed the panel down into the trunk, ran out of daylight trying to fix that. Grrr! I'm just so sick of this one, just glad to get it out the door. Sorry for the rant. AMT '36 Ford, built mostly boxstock, hotrod custom style. I did drop the front axle to get the stance I wanted. Replaced the stock convertible top with a resin chopped top. Paint is Testor's Plum Crazy Metallic overcoated with Tamiya Clear Red, got the shade of color I wanted, the only thing that went right. A couple of in progress shots included.

I like it. I dig the color, I'll have to remember the formula, a nice deep maroon. The top is very cool. Who makes it?
The project I recently finished fought me, too, with parts lost to the Carpet Monster and problems with removing thin masking tape. But I got the overall look I was after, and I suspect you did too on this one, because it certainly looks the business, Build on!

Don't know if he has any for sale right now. I also got a top for one of my '32 Ford projects.

...The top is very cool. Who makes it?... Thanks Bernard! The top is from 3dscaleparts, on ebay. Don't know if he has any for sale right now. I also got a top for one of my '32 Ford projects. I thought it might be. I noticed it among their offerings. Likewise the Deuce top. I like the aggressive look of them both. Perhaps you know this, but they have a web site so you don't need to wait for them to post on eBay. Here's a link: www.3dscaleparts.com/ The young couple that runs the business are nice people and their offerings are all first rate. They started with 1/8th scale stuff several years ago when that was all you could do and get decent output. I would see them each year at the NNL West and watched their business grow. As I said, their stuff is top notch, and these days they print all the way down to 1/43rd. They print themselves and stay pretty current on the technology. The husband is the designer and does the output and the wife takes care of the business and fulfillment side. I always made a point to have a chat because they were quite informative about the current state-of-art. They make many unusual and imaginative parts, and are fairly unique in offering chromed parts and metal printed parts. I've bought from them at the NNL, but never ordered on line. I hope to see them again post-pandemic but in the meantime there are parts I should order. Hmmm...

Actually, I do know about the website, I just kinda forgot about it as ebay was where I bought the tops, then discovered the site. Gettin' CRS pretty bad...

At least you battled through it Dave & I think it turned out just fine - don't dwell on it too long - or ya may be tempted to step on it

I love the look of this, the colour is fantastic! I've never had good luck with clearcoats and know of other modelers who've had similar issues. Still a beautiful piece Dave!
