One of my longest running projects finally comes to an end!
This was originally intended to be a spot on replica of the Pure Heaven car and, to be fair, most of the rolling chassis and engine is (it only took me four years to research and scratchbuild most of it....). However, things really came off the rails when I tackled the body. My first attempt at the decals failed when the sheet I had lovingly stored for years repaid my kindness by falling apart when they touched water. No-one still does a sheet for the Pure Heaven car so a lot of snooping and begging followed which did, finally, produce another sheet (many thanks to all those who helped me with the decals). But then the true scale of the nightmare appeared when the main body decal slid easily off the backing sheet onto the body, and wasn't even close to fitting the shape of the body.... I was very unhappy.
I can only assume that Slixx had used someone else's body to master their sheet but I had no idea which body would work (neither did Slixx, I asked them). So I had a choice, buy every resin Bantam body I could and see if one did work with the decals or give up and build a ficticious car - you can see which option won! Of course, using the Winged Express body wasn't simple either as the chassis I had built was very different to what came with that kit. So a lot of fiddling and shaping followed but at least I didn't have to bother about decals - which all worked perfectly of course.
And now it's done! Yay!
