I've never been a fan of the kit but I'd have to admit that doesn't look half bad. Great work Rick!

Its the same with me , I wouldn't have bought one as a kid ; too much chrome even for me, BUT , the extra time you put into your build really makes it stand out . Just the matte chrome changes the whole look for me, and the tinting of the other chrome bits makes it look 100% better IMHO - It looks great !!

Thanks Don, I never really looked at this one either, so when I grabbed it, I knew there had to be a couple things done. without patting myself on my back, I am glad I thought to make the changes .... I figured it was goofy enough & having too much chrome was not helping the look at all - I might just do the Groovy Grader now just for the hell of it - I'm not thrilled with the new decals for it, so I'm not sure what I'll do there & I may make a few minor other changes

I'm glad I read through the comments and discussion since I have zero background in these kinds of kits. I've seen several completions already of this Atlantis re-release. Yours looked so much better and yet I couldn't see why until I realized how key your treatments of the chromed rollers, "sunshade", wheels and seat were. It turns out this design has plenty of very attractive and interesting detail that just needed some balancing out of the visual elements to make it all come come together. Now the "sunshade" looks like the corrugated metal it was meant to be, the rollers have some utility to them, and the remaining chromed details serve some purpose. Not really "realistic" (how could it ever be?) but with just enough realism to make everything else that's good about come out. Combined with your usual high standard of execution it really works! Bravo!
