Some of you may know, I also build 1/72 military aircraft. In fact, extensive as my stash of vintage car kits is, I actually have far more aircraft. I generally use mostly rattle cans to paint my cars (more area to cover) but I use my airbrushes for the aircraft, all the camouflage. Rick had always wanted me to post some of my planes, but I just didn't- for one reason, most of them are old builds, and the pics I have were taken long ago, before I had a digital camera, and before I was posting things on the websites, and before I knew much about lighting and HOW to set up/take pics. They were really just for me. Lastly, we all know about the troubles of cleaning/dusting models. If there are wires on an aircraft, I generally leave them off, because here in the desert, they're just magic dust collectors, a headache I DON'T need. So, if you'll bear with me, I'll start posting a few old and not great pics. This is the Focke-Wulf Ta 183 Huckebein, a WWII German jet aircraft that was going to be the next produced after the Me 262; it was going through wind tunnel and other tests when the war ended, so never made it into production. I LOVE experimentals! The pics aren't great, but if you look closely you can see the camouflage change between the dark green and grey.

Thumbs up from here, that looks super and the paint is awesome! I really don’t know what 1/72 scale would be , how big or small is that compared to a 1/25 scale car ?

Thumbs up from here, that looks super and the paint is awesome! I really don’t know what 1/72 scale would be , how big or small is that compared to a 1/25 scale car ? This plane is about as big as the 1/25 Tweedie Pie, with the wingspan longer than it's length. Obviously it's a small plane to begin with, other planes in the same scale could be considerably larger. A more modern fighter would be twice as big. When I first started building aircraft, I chose 1/72 scale for two major reasons; obviously, the somewhat smaller scale means less detail, but the plus side is you can display more of them, take up less room, and the BIG reason is that 1/72 is far and away King Of The Hill when it comes to subject availability- you can get just about anything you want in that scale, far more than when you move up in scale- sorta like going from 1/24-1/25 scale cars to 1/8, 1/12, 1/16 cars- far less available subjects. 1/48 scale planes would be the next best thing, but you still lose a lot of subjects.
