Ive been on a kick lately of building some of my old real cars and cars that I remember as a kid, in 1965/66 when I was about 6 years years old , my older brother was in high school in Long Beach California and in 1965 and ‘66 owned a ‘57 Chevy that I wasn’t allowed near but I remember it parked in the driveway, sadly there is only one picture of this car and in its last stage of coolness before being towed off to the junkyard, talking with my brother a couple weeks ago he explained how the motor started running bad so him and a couple of his 16 year old buddies decided to pull the motor out to repair and , well the motor never made its way back under the hood, instead found it’s way into the trunk never to see day light again, while the car sat waiting on the street next to our house it was a victim of hit and run, ( notice rear driver side Quarter panel ) but as a small child I remember this car being very cool and have built a model from this memory, talking with my brother asking him what he remembered about the car as I built the model he explained that the paint was a two tone stock for a 1957 Chevy , larkspur blue top and harbor blue bottom, these colors I bought from Model Car World , to lower the car he put lowering blocks on the rear and front springs were heated, sitting on chrome reverse wheels, he also had a record player inside under the dash , and he remembered that someone gave him a fuel injection system for his small block, it always stayed in a box in the trunk I’m sure it must have been nice driving this car to school , at least for as long as it did run . In the back ground of the black and white photo is the Chevy parked on the street right before it was towed off, in the foreground is my sister and her husband with their brand new 1966 ford fairlane.
At 5 or 6 years old this is probably is my very first memory of what I though was a cool car and sent me on my way of a lifetime of being interested only in cool and custom vehicles, for this build I use a pro shop amt 57 Chevy, if you zoom in on the interior pic you can see the record player! Thanks for looking!!
