I generally use mostly rattle cans to paint my cars (more area to cover) but I use my airbrushes for the aircraft, all the camouflage. DISCLAIMERRick had always wanted me to post some of my planes, but I just didn't- for one reason, most of them are old builds, and the pics I have were taken long ago, before I had a digital camera, and before I was posting things on the websites, and before I knew much about lighting and HOW to set up/take pics. They were really just for me. Lastly, we all know about the troubles of cleaning/dusting models. If there are wires on an aircraft, I generally leave them off, because here in the desert, they're just magic dust collectors, a headache I DON'T need. So, if you'll bear with me, I'll start posting a few old and not great pics. This is the Kawasaki Ki-61-I, a Japanese WWII fighter used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service.

Neat build. What unit used the Shamrock? Never saw Japanese fighter unit markings. Course I've only built the Ohaka rocket interceptor, the Kika jet and the Shinden jet.

I have both the prop and jet versions of the Shinden, very cool! The Shamrock marking is attributed to the 244th Sentai, in charge of the Homeland Defense of Japan, and possibly unique to a Major Kobayashi of that unit, his personal markings. As it was rare, there were rumors that because the Shamrock is so associated with the Irish, that it was painted on the plane sometime after the fighting by some bored U.S. servicemen- but that is highly unlikely; and shamrocks are not uncommon there, as there some 200 varieties of Asian clover.
