Brief background is that, without Rick's encouragement, this simply would never have got finished, or not in this trim anyway. I had to strip and repaint the body seven times, I was getting the weirdest paint reactions with paints I'd used dozens of times before. Around the fifth fail, I had a chat with Rick and he convinced me to keep trying but run experimental pieces alongside the actual build. I was so tempted to trash the thing, or just flat black it all out, but Rick's words made me decide to keep going - this is the end result. It's not perfect but it is finished so, thanks Rick!
Essentially this all kicked off when I decided to upgrade the running gear of the trusty old Poison Pinto kit - the original stuff being pretty sketchy at best. This meant squeezing the underpinnings of a Mazda RX8 under the Pinto body and, much to my surprise, the wheelbase was near on identical. The same couldn't be said about the rear track though and that's where the fun really started. Those rear fenders are nearly all filler and took months to get right. Getting the rear wheels in showed up a problem at the front and so the front wheel arches have been raised to keep the body level. Trust me, there has been a ton of body work to get it looking like this! The interior got a makeover as well with much more modern seats and two nitrous bottles taking up the rear parcel shelf. And do on and so on! Give yourself a pat on your favourite extremity if you picked up on the licence plate, it's the original Monogram catalogue number for the Poison Pinto!
Thanks again Rick.
