I've been buying and building models since about '64-'65, just following behind my older brother. He eventually quit, I never did. If I saw models I really liked, I bought multiples- or, at least, my grandmother helped me! I built one of these back then when they came out, but, like most of my earlier builds, don't have anymore. Kits like this, the Red Baron, Orange Hauler, Tijuana Taxi, Magnum GT, Mail Truck, etc., and others- sometimes I'd build them, then trade them to friends for boxes of parts or something- anyway, those early builds are just GONE. Wish I still had them. I've been slow getting around to it, but I'm trying to build them over again, get 'em back on the shelf. Rick and I used to talk about that all the time, the builds from the past that are gone. At least I have the multiples to draw from. Hopefully I'll build them better than I did back then. All my extras are MIB, some still sealed, but because of age and much moving place to place, I never know how well they've withstood all that. Sometimes I've found tire burns, scratched glass or parts, or decals that just aren't the best. Luckily so far, no kits with missing parts.
This is one Rick and I talked about, and we both agreed that it just wouldn't look right painted in some other color, looked best just the way it was. If I remember right, Harley built one that way (God knows how long ago that was, eh Harley? I think that was back on the C.C.), I can't remember anyone else here...? Anyway, I just polished the plastic on this, just detail painted some parts, so it was a quick build. I was actually working on a plane, waiting for paint and parts to dry, when I decided to build this.
