This is one of the two rarest of the old AMT sand buggies/rails, almost never see this come up on Ebay. I keep a constant watch there, see how the market is doing, how the older kits are doing. I hadn't seen this one come up in quite some while, when one came up a few weeks ago, went for a little under $200 if I remember right. If you wanted to recreate it, it uses the chassis from the Surf Woody, or a couple other kits with the same chassis. Headers are the same as from several different AMT kits. The tires are again an odd size so you'd have to improvise there. Need to create a roll bar, and build a center steering unit. It was suggested by a member on the CC years ago that the floor pan was also from the Surf Woody; yes and no, it's very similar to that, but you couldn't just swap it out, it was both shortened AND modified for this kit. Built as a boxart build, no extra detailing. Comments welcome!

Ya, both the tires and the engines on most of these builds would not be very good for use on the dunes! LOL! But hey, I don't design 'em, I'm just building them.

I can almost feel the collectors out there twitching as you work through this series!
Definitely a tad compromised for dune work, as Joe has pointed out, but seeing stuff like this actually built (and built properly) brings a smile to my face.

LET 'em twitch! I can't take them with me and I might as well have fun with 'em! And, besides which, as with most of my stash, I have duplicates or even multiples of kits- that will REALLY make 'em twitch! LOL!
