Here's the next phase of project: Drilled holes for turn signal/mirror combo; top before, bottom after Both drilled for front turn signals Front turn signal mirror mounting hardware I decided to convert to right-hand drive, so moved chain cut out to other side of fender and closed in old chain cut out. New chain cut out for right-side drive Reinforced fender mount Closed in old chain cut out; body work complete - ready for primer First coat of primer Converted to right-side chain drive Cleaner left side look, showing more rim with right side chain conversion First sprotor I built was too small, so had to build a new one. Top is before. New sprotor; top before, bottom after Top sprotor is the first one I built, but sprocket was too small to reach caliper. Bottom is new sprotor with bigger sprocket. New sprotor with modified caliper New sprotor with caliper on bike Thanks for following; more to come. - Jim

Here's my next installment of progress: Had to scratch build transmission mount Converting drive chain to right hand drive required spacing transmission cover. I am using thick sheet plastic to make the spacer. Spacer cut out. Trans cover spacer in place for chain clearance In order to make forks easier to take off and on, I put an aluminum tube in neck as a sleeve Then made aluminum tube stem to fit into sleeve Will trim stem to fit later, now fork will be easier to take off and on I want to put on fork boots, so have to cut fork tube off of triple tree I drilled holes into upper and lower triple tree and into fork tube to insert metal rod to hold it all together and to make fork tube removable I am using flexible straw to make fork boot Fork boots will be painted semi-gloss black Sheet metal in primer and sanded, ready for base coat. I got held up on the paint cuz I couldn't find the silver base coat I needed, but I finally found it and am ready to paint tomorrow. Hope this isn't too much info, but this is the first time I've done a step-by-step build up. Old Pro's like Ira make it look easy, but it's not! Til next time ... thanks! - Jim

Well folks, as cute of an idea using the flex-straws as fork boots was, guess what??? I could not get primer to stick to them! I used two different primers, wiped them down with lacquer and tried acrylic, and nothing would stick. So it was time for some 11th hour engineering. This is another technique I've always wanted to try. I took a bolt and drilled a hole through the middle of it: Then I cut the threads off the bolt and had to put new longer rods on to the triple trees and cut the factory tubes off the fork legs and drilled out the fork legs. The bolt on the left is 1/4 x 20; the one on the right is 10-24. I believe I am going to go with the one on the right. I think after they are primered and painted, semi-gloss black, they will look close enough to boots for me. With a little massaging, the bigger one could look good but I think I am going to go with the smaller. What do you guys think? I added a tab to the swing arm to route rear brake line and also added the cross tube in the swing arm. Frame is now ready for primer. Just waiting for base coat silver to dry on all the body work to layout art work and final coat, then clear. Thanks for looking. Congrats to you guys who've finished your project - good freaking luck to the rest of us who are still working on ours. : ) Jim
