[glow=red,2,300]WHERE'S THE MuD? [/glow] Getting ready for a MuD Bath! I made a half circle of Masking Material and put it on the Windshield. I'll take it off after we go through the MuD, and it should leave a Nice Clean area that the Wiper cleaned off! I also cut a strip of brass screen and put in in the Roof Scoop...

[glow=red,2,300]NICE & SHINY!!![/glow] I found the Perfect Mirrors in the Porsche 911 kit. I painted them black and glued them in place. Here are the last photos of MuD BuG before everything gets Muddy! The Wheels are not attached this is just a Mock-Up. I will attach the wheels after the Weathering is Finished!

[glow=red,2,300]MUD TIME!!![/glow] I made a holder with a Coat Hanger. I bent the Hanger to the width of the axles then cut off the wire ends. The ends slip into the axles and I used masking tape on the ends so the body wouldn't slide off... I used 5 cans of spray paint for the Mud. 3 cans of Flat Brown in different shades, Dullcote & Testors Clear Gloss. I started with the Dullcote and sprayed a mist coat over the whole body, to look like spots of Mud & Muddy Water. Then I sprayed the Light Brown from underneath to replicate the Mud coming from the Tires. Next I used the Medium Brown and sprayed from the bottom again, but a little heavier this time. Brown was the final color and it was sprayed into the wheel wells and then lightly on the body. A mist of Testors Clear Gloss was sprayed over the whole body, to look like Wet Muddy Water. I made the axles from Plastic tubing with Piano Wire inside. Cool Willy tried to drive the Mud Bug off the table, so I glued the wheels in place, no more rolling off the cliff! More MUD Coming...

[glow=red,2,300]STAGE TWO: MORE MUD!!![/glow] I added more Heavy Mud in the Fender and Lower Areas... I used Flat Spray Paint in Brown Tones and a Tooth Brush with Acrylics. If you fill the Tooth Brush with paint and run your finger over the bristles Quickly, the paint will fly off, you should get a Good Splatter Effect this way. The Tires were Dry Brushed with Black Acrylics. Next time I do this with MuD I will try another color. The Green and Browns seemed to blend together. I found that this looked more like dry dirt than MuD, so I made one more addition to the paint job. Stayed tooned for, STAGE THREE: GETTING WET!!! Photos Coming Soon...

[glow=red,2,300]STAGE THREE: GETTIN" WET!!![/glow] After all of the Weathering with Flat Paints, MuD BuG Looked Very Dirty & Dusty. The MuD BuG didn't Look very Muddy so, I used Testors High Gloss Clear Spray and "Misted" the MuD BuG from a distance, to look like rain drops...... Then I sprayed the Tires, Underside, Fenders and Lower Areas with a Heavy Spray of High Gloss! Cool Willy is Happy Now!!!
